There is a wide range of children's savings products available in the United Kingdom. Children's savings accounts tend to be similar to those of adults, although they may have names aimed to appeal to children. They also offer gimmicks which should generally be ignored, since they often come with savings products with low interest rates. The best rates tend to come from accounts with no free gifts. National Savings bonds are also available for children and offer tax-free interest for bonds held for five years.

United Kingdom savers have benefited from interest rate rises, but they should monitor the rates they receive and compare them with rates from other savings accounts. Banks and building societies may offer a high initial rate which falls after enough customers have been attracted. Tables comparing interest rates can be found in a number of financial journals. Many accounts paying high rates are phone and postal accounts, so savers have to wait to receive funds by post.
