Brazil next biotech trailblazer in Latin America?

Article Abstract:

The Brazil innovation law passed in December 2004, the first national innovation law in Latin America earned praise from the country's scientific community, especially from that part dealing with applied research in industry and agriculture, with an emphasis on biotech. Under the law the government has promised tax credit to private companies such as biotechs that would allow them to deduct 60% of money spent on R&D from their annual tax.

Building the Midwest's future

Article Abstract:

The three upper-Midwest states in the US have had mixed fortunes in their efforts to build up their research infrastructure for science and technology. Partnerships with both public as well as private sectors might help in funding and also building the research and development infrastructure.
