Will anyone heed transport pleas

Article Abstract:

Manchester, England, is well served by road links but needs an investment in the West Coast Main Line, the railroad link with London. The Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive aims to increase usage of public transportation, encourage people to walk of cycle short distances, and cut journeys from one peripheral region to another. Privatization of the bus and railroad systems has made its task more difficult. Central government has also delayed investment in expanding the Metrolink system.

Slow progress in rail upgrades

Article Abstract:

The UK railroad transportation network has deficiencies along the west coast which hinders access to Manchester, England, but investment in the line is being carried out. Rail freight links can be important in industrial relocation decisions as is shown by the case of Chunghwa which has invested in Lanarkshire, close to such a rail link. Local government along the west coastis in favor of railroad modernization, though a survey of investors has shown road links to be more important.
