Bush promises to give military ebest equipmentE

Article Abstract:

The President George W. Bush has assured the Army to provide the armed services with their requirements to complete the mission in the war on terrorism, including the ebest equipment' that can be procured, thus recording non-inflation-adjusted outlays for military programs. He has pushed forward a huge Future Combat Systems program, worth more than $100 billion for an array of contractors, involving vehicles, aircraft and more.

Senate debate cutoff defeated on defense appropriations bill

Article Abstract:

The Republican leaders in the Senate have failed to cut off debate on the defense appropriations bill for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006, and this has left the bill that provides the money for the entire Pentagon weapons procurement program in a limbo. The problems faced by lawmakers trying to convince anti-cloture senators to change their votes in order to cut off debate are discussed.

Analysts question cutting force size to fund weapons
