IMS is a UK phone-in service which was acquired by its management in 1992 and has increased the range of its products. The company is planning a share issue to raise from 25 million pounds sterling to 30 million pounds, with some 15 million pounds of this to be new money. The company has invested in technology permitting it to obtain information when calls are made, and offers voice mail and call handling for companies. The company's capital spending needs are low and it is able to generate cash well.

Hanging on the telephone

Article Abstract:

Call centers have been set up in Merseyside, England, employing some 5,500 people. The Mersey Partnership has helped attract call centers. Companies operating these centers include TeleWest, QVC and Abbey National. Local graduates can offer language skills and there is a range of experience in the locality due to the wide range of call centers including retail, financial services and industrial. Restaurant Express is one of the latest companies to set up a call center in Merseyside.

The company was set up in 1995 through an MBO, and joined the Alternative Investment Market (Aim) in 1996. The company reported a pre-tax profit of 103,000 pounds sterling for the half-year to Mar 1998 with sales totalling 2.6 million pounds in that period. The company is likely to report a profit for full-year 1998 for the first time since joining Aim.
