Car dealers face a bumpy ride

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom used car prices are dropping faster in 1998 than they did in 1997, due to an oversupply. Demand is sluggish, and this is especially likely to be true for July 1998 since this is traditionally a slow month. Companies involved in this market, such as Car Group, have been affected. Arriva, a car leaser and bus operator, has also been affected since resale values for ex-rental cars have dropped. Consumers should benefit from this drop in prices, especially in Aug 1998 when a new registration letter is used.

The company's profit is forecast at 3.8 million pounds sterling for 1999-2000, rising to 4.8 million pounds for the following year.
