Changing the face of marketing: the new wave of technological change promises tools for faster, flexible decision making

Article Abstract:

Two significant computer developments are altering all phases of marketing and advertising. One is the use of computers to refine, speed-up and simplify processes, while the other is the increased use of the computer's data processing capabilities to marketing tasks. According to marketing professor Robert Blattberg, information technology will alter marketing practices and will make marketing and production more interrelated. Of greater significance is the use of computers in marketing tasks, which is increasingly observed in industries applying the 'yield management' method in their pricing decisions.
