Board rift at CWC

Article Abstract:

Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC) is divided on its attitude to BSkyB. One camp is supporting a deal with BSkyB to buy movies from 1998, while the other camp favors direct negotiations with Hollywood studios. Cable companies are seeking independent access to buy TV content, and BSkyB holds a near monopoly on content and is raising prices for TV companies. If CWC deals with BSkyB there would be few opportunities for cable companies to have independent access to content.
