Characterization and identification of vaccine candidate proteins through analysis of the group A Streptococcus surface proteome

Article Abstract:

A study to demonstrate a preteomic approach for identifying bacterial surface-exposed proteins quickly and reliably and their use as vaccine candidates using M1_SF370 group A Streptococcus strain was conducted. When this approach was applied to the sequenced M1_SF370 group A Streptococcus strain, 68 PSORT-predicted surface-associated proteins were identified with number of surface protein varying from strain to strain.

The next chapter in reverse vaccinology

Article Abstract:

The traditional linear process of testing antigens one at a time has revolutionalized by genome-scale, parallel strategies for discovering candidate antigensan approach known as 'reverse vaccinology'. A study by Rodriguez-Ortega and group push this approach further, by using a combined biochemical, proteomic, and bioinformatics strategy.
