Article Abstract:

The decision of the House of Lords on the case filed by Prince Jefri Bolkiah against KPMG has implications for accounting firms and other professional organizations. Prince Jefri hired KPMG as forensic accountant from 1996 to 1998 in an operation called Project Lucy to supervise legal proceedings made against him. In the process, the firm performed litigation support services and accessed confidential information about the prince's assets and financial dealings related to his work as the chairman of the Brunei Investment Authority (BIA). However, a month after the case was settled, KPMG agreed to help the Brunei government in Project Gemma, which investigated the activities of the BIA, specifically the flow and use of large transfers of capital from BIA funds. The High Court approved an injunction against KPMG but was dropped by the Court of Appeal. However, the House of Lords approved the injunction.

Outward appearances

Article Abstract:

Outdoor management development comprises a series of tasks which have to be accomplished by teams, followed by analytical review sessions. Many of the programs involve tasks which get more difficult as a week progresses, and sometimes involve frightening situations. One of the biggest challenges delegates have to contend with is the application of principles learned during outdoor training to their everyday jobs. Several months after outdoor training takes place, delegates should get together to discuss the real-life applicability of their experiences.
