Climbing the wall of worry ... watch out for the wildcards

Article Abstract:

Insider trading in securities has recorded encouraging gains during the last two quarters of 1994. Stock investors were impressed with the remarkable performance of the market in 1994. However, they should be cautious in their investment in 1995 as new problems emerge. The sudden devaluation of the Mexican peso has adversely affected stock prices and some investors are worried that the Mexican crisis could get worse. Further compounding their fears is the impending inflation in Europe, which could cause interest hikes in Germany.

Have small caps become leaders rather than laggards?

Article Abstract:

An emerging trend in the stock market is the attention being given to small and mid-cap stocks. Recent months have also seen an increase in investment on big-cap companies and these companies have outperformed low-priced, small-cap stocks. However, with the advent of the earnings season, demand for big-cap stocks like consumer nondurables and health care stocks is starting to taper off. Excess performance patterns are active when there is significant insider trading in smaller-cap stocks.

Investors left asking: where has the volume gone this week?

Article Abstract:

Investors are apprehensive about the diminishing trading volume in the last two weeks of Mar. 1996. It has been increasingly difficult to find active stocks that are also active among insiders. Some of these stocks include the Waterhouse Investor Services which has been selling for $31.50 each among insiders. Other stocks receiving considerable attention include Petrolite Corp. and Boston Technology.
