Crossover with the land down under

Article Abstract:

Toronto's Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and Melbourne's Australian Accounting Research Foundation (AARF) have started a staff exchange program where each sent one of its employees to the other nation. Don Jeffreys, assistant director of auditing standards at the CICA, left his home in Jan. 1996 with his wife to begin his one-year work exchange. On the same day, Michael Nugent, deputy director of auditing at the AARF, left Australia with his family to head for Canada. They hope that the experience will bring a new perspective about standard-setting in their organizations.

Purchasing card programs pay off

Article Abstract:

Canadian companies are increasingly implementing purchasing card programs. The growing popularity of the cards is being driven, in part, by the trend towards business process re-engineering. Many companies are discovering that they can cut the costs of small-dollar purchases by a much as 90% by shifting from traditional paper-based transactions to electronic charge card transactions. Purchasing cards also expedite the payment process and serve to empower employees.
