Customer service, digital image guidelines among topics at school photographers' annual meeting

Article Abstract:

The 49th edition of the Annual Professional School Photographers Association International (PSPA) meeting in Las Vegas, NV, focused on the changing relationships between businesses and customers and the entry of digital technology into the industry. Firms in the imaging business are advised to anticipate the demands of their customers and this means preparing for digital technology. In an effort to streamline the industry, the association also discussed guidelines for the format of CD-ROM yearbooks.

Brand building for photo retailers

Article Abstract:

Retailers need to establish a brand in today's global marketplace, say marketing experts. Branding allows retailers to establish a relationship with the customer and create trust. Experts say this is easier said than done considering that today's consumers are bombarded everyday with tens of thousands of images and information. The steps toward establishing a brand are: positioning, choosing a name, brand communications, and establishing brand identity.

Holiday ideas can bring in business

Article Abstract:

Camera stores are relying on various marketing strategies to sell merchandise during the holidays. For instance, Deedra Durocher, owner of Wakefield, RI-based Kingstown Camera, credits her enthusiastic staff for giving input on what to stock and order for the holidays. She also gives emphasis on providing sales training to boost sales. Kingtown Camera has a cardboard sleigh where clients can deposit cans of foods or toys for charitable organizations.
