Neil Gershenfeld, cofounder and director of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has a goal to place customization in the hands of people by allowing the visitors to the South End Technology Center to experiment with rapid prototyping using commercially available and relatively inexpensive tools. He believes that personal fabrication is about personal expression and creating a market for one.

Sanpellegrino do most of their business in the fine dining sector and are manufacturers of the popular imported brand of sparkling water. However, over the past few years Sanpellegrino has been designing items such as bottle openers, specially shaped glasses and also helped sponsor a competition for young designers to create luxury water bottles and wraparound chill pack.

30 million dollar baby: Successful footwear start-up is born from bruises

Article Abstract:

Martin Keen, a footwear designer, launched one of the most successful footwear start-ups whose sales zoomed from zero to $30 million in one year and was awarded 'Best Brand Launch' by Footwear News in 2003. Keen recalls his memory and acknowledges that his inspiration for the footwear came while he was at sea.
