Article Abstract:

The Asian economic crisis has adversely affected the Australian fund management sector. Many Australian fund managers are reducing their exposure to Asian investments, selling off their Asian securities after the countries of domicile began to devalue their currencies; still other funds have turned to hedges. There is a widespread movement towards cashing out among the Australian fund management sector.

Fuel supply in independent power projects

The independent power business in Asia is growing and, along with this trend, power companies are moving away from fuel supply purchasing arrangements with state utilities that traditionally take on all the risk. Financiers that have taken on the risk that utilities use to handle are particularly concerned about the risks involved in coal-fired power projects.
