DARPA, industry provide leap ahead in night vision

Article Abstract:

U.S. night-vision technology is about to become better with the introduction of Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's (DARPA) short-wave infrared technology that is smaller, lighter and provides better images than systems available. The goal of the program is to place network infrared cameras producing digital images, negating the speed for large processing units on the soldier's helmet.

Upgrades to increase B-52 capabilities

Article Abstract:

Modifications to the Air Force's B-52H fleet could enable the introduction of programs that will improve the network-centric warfare and allow them to jam and destroy enemy anti-craft radars. The variety and quantity of precision-guided weapons the B-52H carries will increased.

Combat controllers to get better targeting gear

Article Abstract:

The Air Force Research Laboratory has developed a lighter, more compact targeting device for special operation troops who call air strikes on enemy forces. This will greatly simplify the process of identifying and locating targets.
