DOD spending bills show wide senate-house agreement on R&D
Article Abstract:
The Department of Defense (DOD) fiscal 2005 appropriations bill in July 2004 has given relatively small areas of disagreement between the House and Senate on research and development spending in their separate measures. Despite the house proposals to curb Pentagon purchases of defense products or components, the agreement on the increasing MDA funding prospects are good for completion.

Air Force can't take cuts, planners say
Article Abstract:
The senior Air Force officials describe that the Air Force is well prepared to do its job with a smaller, smarter fleet of aircraft, but it will be very tough to do so on a smaller budget. Hence, the Pentagon is planning for a 2025 time frame, where the Air Force is expected to have 25 percent fewer fighters, and 10 percent fewer total aircraft than it has at present.
