Defense firm to devise lethal/non-lethal remote weapon

Article Abstract:

A defense technology firm is developing a remotely operated weapons system for the Army Future Combat Systems (FCS) program and homeland-security applications. Metal Storm Inc. won a research pact from the US Department of Defense under which it will develop, produce and evaluate an anti-personnel, unattended, weapon pod and controller using the company's proprietary electronically initiated munitions delivery systems.

Oshkosh developing robot truck for next DARPA race

Oshkosh Truck Corp., a manufacturer of military truck, is working on a robotic version of a Marine Corps truck for entry in a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) race of autonomous vehicles. The company is developing an autonomous driven version of its Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) for DARPA's second Grand Challenge.

Army buys 95 more Strykers for $206 million

Article Abstract:

General Dynamics Corp.'s Land Systems unit would deliver three orders worth $206 million to the Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in addition to 95 Stryker armored wheeled combat vehicles. The order includes production of the Mobile Gun System (MGS) and Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance (NBCR) variants.
