Deception in our time

Article Abstract:

The reactions to the issue of deception in design come in two forms. The subjective reaction is to be repelled by the idea, whereas the objective view is that it is part of the status quo. Being tasked to create illusions, deception may be an extension, albeit unintentional, of the designer's mandate. However, the general public has become far more accepting of this premise than in previous years. Increasing sophistication in the mechanics of deception and heightened public awareness of these methods has made people indifferent to the fact that they are, in fact, being misled.

Thinking out loud

Article Abstract:

Design conferences are essential since for several professions annual conferences serve as job markets where people come to recruit or to be recruited. Some of this happens even at the specialized conferences but the design field is not professionally systemized in a way that helps conferences be the most useful place for career networking. Professional changes need to be discussed at conferences. People from other areas can also help in enhancing the perspectives of designers at conferences.

Designers who respect order and adore chaos

Article Abstract:

Graphics help people to move from one point to another within cities and on highways. The signs and symbols used in such graphics must express the simplest concepts, because urbanites and highway drivers are too distracted to decipher any but the simplest signs. Yet, many designers feel that complex concepts and indecipherable signs, such as in graffiti, should not be abandoned, because these signs give a lot of character and vitality to the streets where they appear.
