Defence deals heat up

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin is acquiring the military electronics business of Loral, in a move which reflects a wider trend of consolidation in the defense industry. This follows the sale of Westinghouse Electronic Systems to Northrop Grumman. Defense companies have been affected by reductions in government spending and this is particularly true for companies involved in military aircraft and parts. Northrop will be better equipped to export following its acquisition.
