Defense spending must rise to meet needs, AEI fellow says

Article Abstract:

Frederick Kagan, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) stated at a forum at the Heritage Foundation, the US defense spending should rise substantially if the military to meet its needs of transformation and also to prepare for a variety of possible future contingences. He stated that the military is overstretched and inadequately resourced since the late 1990s and that situation is further worsening.

QDR consultation gets 'two thumbs up,' but allies worry about budget cuts

The US military is consulting with its allies as its military is undertaking the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), but allies are worried about the related budget cuts that would affect key programs like the multi-national F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. The cooperation with allies is one of the areas that the QDR is specifically addressing.

Analysts: QDR fails as Pentagon runs out cash

Article Abstract:

Several of the US defense analysts have stated that the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) has failed in many ways, just as military has begun to face serious financial deficits. The QDR has failed to institutionalize the concepts of transformation partly because of the political resistance.
