Missile defense: Aims for discerning incoming target

Article Abstract:

Raytheon Co., a leader in missile technology reported in 2005 that the area of US ballistic missile defenses, the frontier already has advanced beyond the challenge of hitting and destroying an incoming enemy missile. The new aim is to improve in decision-making, which includes improving the means of making positive identification of missiles in order to be able to act against them with great urgency.

Wynne: Missile defense OK despite cuts

Article Abstract:

Defense officials have assured that the missile defense program will continue despite the $5 billion cut over the next five years as proposed by the Bush administration. Michael Wynne, who is the under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics is confident that the projected funding for the Missile Defense Agency will be sufficient to achieve its goals.

Canada faces missile defense, subs, helos questions

Article Abstract:

A major government review of Canada's defense needs and targets will be launched with many issues to be resolved. The key issues are whether Canada should join the U.S. nuclear missile defense (NMD) system, what to do with Canada's fleet of submarines, whether to speed up a multi-billion dollar helicopter purchase program and how to boost the military's manpower.
