Dual selection enhances the signaling specificity of a variant of the quorum-sensing transcriptional activator LuxR

Article Abstract:

A dual positive-negative selection system is used identify a variant of LuxR-G2E that retains the response to straight-chain acyl-HSLs, but no longer responds to 3-oxo-hexanoyl-homoserine lactone (3OC6HSL). A single mutation, R67M, reduces LuxR-G2E's response to acyl-HSLs having a carbonyl substituent at the third carbon of the acyl chain.

Fancy footwork in the sequence space shuffle

Article Abstract:

The reports on directed evolution have helped in broadening the scope of evolutionary enzyme engineering. It is demonstrated that how some rational design, with inspiration from studying evolutionary related proteins, can help find a good place to do sequence space shuffle.

A diverse family of thermostable cytochrome P450s created by recombination of stabilizing fragments

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the creation of a diverse family of active chimeras of the thermostable cytochrome P450 enzymes by the recombination of stabilizing fragments. These chimeras are found to be extremely useful for several bio-technological applications.
