Effect of transported mass and constant force on times for ballistic and visually-controlled movements

Article Abstract:

Models can de developed to describe moving objects both horizontally and vertically with resistive and assistive factors. The coefficent in these models vary according to the kind and direction of movement. The added time for mass transport is in linear relation to the mass. Linear relation between the mass and additive time is observed. Upward movement times are lower than the downwards movement time in visually-controlled movements, whereas in ballistic movements no considerable difference between both types of movements is observed.

Strength of component principles determining direction of turn stereotypes-linear displays with rotary controls

Article Abstract:

The total stereotype strengths for two and three dimensional display-control arrangements are a linear sum of the strength of each contributing principle. The response time for a strong stereotype arrangement for horizontally moving displays is faster than one with weaker stereotypes. Response time is dependent on the magnitude of the component principle. The vertical layouts fail to show any significant relationships.
