Ensuring an exciting future for newspapers

Article Abstract:

It is argued that the newspaper business has an exciting future in the 21st century despite predictions about its ultimate demise in the wake of the Internet Age. Newspaper publishers must ask themselves if they have communicated an exciting and credible vision of their newspaper products to employees and investors. They must understand the need to strategically plan for their newspaper businesses for future opportunities rather than for a past era. They must also maintain their confidence in their businesses. Newspaper businesses will have become skilled multi-media operators by 2010 if they apply well-crafted strategic plans.

However, Express Newspapers has done badly, with its Daily Express, Express on Sunday and Daily Star experiencing worrying declines in circulation.
