Europe, following U.S., set to open up Rx PR market

Article Abstract:

Edelman PR Worldwide's Global Sector head for Healthcare in Europe & Asia Pacific, Nick May said that Europeans are increasingly becoming aware of direct-to-consumer marketing of pharmaceuticals in the US that has emboldened consumers into making their own medical decisions. May expects that Europe will relax its restrictions on healthcare PR within five years. Furthermore, the US Food and Drug Administration's decision to ease the rules on prescription drug advertising has opened new markets for healthcare PR in the US, said Edelman's GM-Pharmaceutical Marketing & Media executive Susan Isenberg.

PR content is king in era of media 'convergence'

Article Abstract:

The convergence of traditional media, print, audio and video, on the Internet presents an opportunity for the application of conventional public relations (PR) tools to this fastest growing broadcast medium. This is because dissemination of fresh information, one of the strengths of the PR industry, is synonymous for the most in-demand thing on the Internet, content. PR should see the Internet as another opportunity by which they can directly reach the end-user.

Be global or perish, Drobis tells Counselors Academy

Article Abstract:

Ketchum CEO Dave Drobis, speaking at the Spring Conference of the PRSA's Counselor Academy on May 9, 2000, in Tucson, AZ, advised public relations (PR) companies to lead the way towards globalization. Drobis said that PR firms that will fail to take this risk will be marginalized and will lose their businesses to management consultants and marketing companies who will assuredly take their place.
