Exit strategies in Europe

Article Abstract:

Two German biotech company executives, Jean-Yves Nothais, a French venture capital fund manager and Patrik Frei, a Swiss valuation expert explore their views on the investment status in Europe for biotech companies seeking exits with reference to the factors influencing exit strategy. They suggest that European biotech companies must focus on building investor visibility, pharma collaborations and consolidation to boost their chances of successful exits to overcome legal, cultural and linguistic barriers.

Danish biotech outperforms its European counterparts

Article Abstract:

Danish biotech companies raised unprecedented amounts of venture capital, opened the window for initial public offerings and lured investors with follow-up offering in the fiscal 2006 outpacing its neighbors in Scandinavia and Europe. The secret of the country's biotech sector might lie in the strong research base and the support that local pharma companies offer in forming, funding and collaborating with biotech being a source of skilled management to run them.

Building a business: Key ingredients for success in Europe

The views of biotechnologists towards the development of biotech industry in Europe are discussed in the article. A large pool of qualified people, infrastructure, university participation and substantial funding are the key factors for establishing the biotech industry.
