Exporting problems: the relevance of export development

Article Abstract:

Exporting companies can be hindered if there is no national policy to aid exporters. This is illustrated by the study of firms in Cyprus. Cyptiot firms tend to use cost-price calculations in their export strategy, but other approaches could be more fruitful. These include emphasising quality, or using promotions, packaging features, and brand names. Public policy makers could make a valuable contribution by actively aiding exporters. Export credits could be provided at lower rates of interest.

The impact of level of company export development on exercised power in relationships between manufacturers and overseas distributors

Article Abstract:

Foreign importers can have a dramatic impact on the effectiveness of international business activity. Those that distribute imported products well help exporters to gain a hold in foreign markets. Research on the Greek export market shows that irregular exports are more likely to be cost-effective than sustained export activities because Greek importers have less control over what they distribute. Other export matters are discussed.
