Eyeball to eyeball

Article Abstract:

Network and cable television are ever at odds about who is gaining on whose viewership. Late 1985 figures show the networks gaining in popularity. Cable television producers feel that this is a short-term trend and that the more dynamic nature of cable television will make it the more popular choice among television viewers. Statistics quoted support each side's contentions of leadership. Cable television advertising revenues are, however, growing at a faster rate than network television's.

Syndication, the rebroadcasting of network television programs by individual markets, is explained by the advertising agency of Ogilvy and Mather.
