FCS cost to soar by $25 billion under hastened acquisition

Article Abstract:

The total price tag of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program is projected to skyrocket by more than $25 billion during the next two decades, and the modernization effort would shift billions in Army procurement funds in coming fiscal years to pay for accelerated fielding plan. It is believed that this would represent at least a 27.2 percent increase in the earlier estimate for the total program acquisition cost over many years.
