Feeding nearly insatiable demand: but selling into Pacific Rim presents rewards and roadblocks

Article Abstract:

The population of the Pacific Rim is over 2 billion people and the region has an aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) of over $5 trillion making it rich in marketing opportunities. However, some areas tend to exclude foreign companies, and have poor law enforcement and poor infrastructure. The 10 key markets include Japan where many US companies are making headway such as National Instruments, South Korea, which is anti-imports, although it is slowly opening its markets to overseas companies. There are more business opportunities opening up in Australia for US companies, and Malaysia welcomes foreign trade and investment.
