Gamblers or bankers?

Article Abstract:

South Korean banks and finance companies continue to invest in Asian bonds despite the economic turmoil engulfing the region. However, some South Korean banks and finance companies are diversifying their corporate bond portfolios by investing in bonds from more exotic emerging markets such as Russia and other Eastern European countries. South Korean banks and finance companies are willing to take on extra risk as their need for yield is great.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is the key to success in the banking market of the future. US banks have been successfully exploiting CRM, which is based on target marketing using customer databases. Asian banks must use information technology to create customer databases to position themselves competitively. Target marketing programs using the data gleaned from the customers is the greatest opportunity for banks.

Hong Kong banks; change: the only constant

Article Abstract:

A forecast of Hong Kong's banking industry is presented. Hong Kong's banking industry has experienced change in the 1990s, and pressures for change will not abate in the future. Hong Kong's banking industry has successfully negotiated these changes for the most part. The reunification of Hong Kong with China does not pose any economic problems that Hong Kong's banking industry cannot successfully deal with.
