Generals cite need for new Aerial ISR and C4 assets

Article Abstract:

Marine Gen. James Jones, commander of the European Command and Army Gen. James Hill, commander of the Southern Command have highlighted the requirement for better aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) assets for early warning and battle damage assessment as well as command, control, computers and communications (C4) assets for the war on terrorism. The needs for interoperability between both NATO and non-NATO partner nations and improvement of C4 architecture for fixed and mobile operations in Colombia and other South American nations have also been highlighted.

Rep. Bartlett sees arguments for, against diesel subs

Article Abstract:

US Rep. Roscoe Bartlett outlined the advantages and disadvantages of diesel submarines as compared to nuclear-powered submersibles before a forum of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA). While diesel submarines are quieter, more difficult for the enemy to locate and considerably cheaper to build, nuclear-powered submarines have an almost inexhaustible fuel supply and are better for long-distance missions.

New system sees quick expertise for warfighters

Article Abstract:

A new system developed with Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), called the Joint Knowledge Development and Distribution Capability (JKDDC) would enable the warriors to take quick courses in vital skills. The JKDDC system would serve personnel of all services, including the Coast Guard.
