Generals see 'Gaps' in personnel recovery architecture

Article Abstract:

Communication plays a vital role in linking to search-and-rescue forces, since when an incident was reported in an immediate and accurate manner to the personnel recovery architecture, the processes were not initiated properly to conduct the remaining critical tasks and effect recovery of isolated personnel. However, some units, such as the ill-fated 507th Maintenance Company, which was ambushed in An Nasiriyah were unable to report directly, thus complicating the recovery efforts in the first few days.

Although the Army has instituted programs to increase the number of recruiters and drill instructors, they are under-resourced since they are not enough qualified and experienced.
