Generation of functional ion-channel tools by E3 targeting

Article Abstract:

A target-directed antibody strategy for ion channels-protein that have emerged as major factors in human disease and are keenly pursued as target in therapeutic drug development is reported. Extracellular application of E3-targeted anti-TRPC5 antibody led to a specific TRPC5 inhibitor, enabling TRPC5 to be distinguished from its closest family members, and TRPC5 function to be explored in a relatively intractable physiological system.

Fungal gene clusters

Article Abstract:

Ustilago Maydis, the agent of a widespread agricultural blight known as corn smut disease, has gene clusters that appear to share characteristics with bacterial pathogenicity islands. The Ustilago Maydis is decoded to understand the organism's biotrophic lifestyle and also assess the role of the gene clusters in disease.

Evolved orthogonal ribosomes enhance the efficiency of synthetic genetic code expansion

Article Abstract:

The technique, to increase the in vivo efficacy of unnatural amino acid incorporation, by evolution of orthogonal ribosome, which resulted in enhanced tRNA -dependent decoding of amber codons placed in orthogonal mRNA, is presented.
