The Timber Rattlesnake Conservation Action Plan is aimed at identifying the problems of conservation in each of the 27 states where rattlesnakes are found. The completed plan will provide a guide for timber rattlesnake conservation and it is hoped that such action will avoid the need for the snake to be listed as endangered.

The complete genome sequence of xylose-fermenting yeast Pichia stipitis is sequenced and assembled. The genome sequence has revealed unusual aspects of genome organization and has provided insights on how Pichia stipitis regulates its redox balance while very efficiently fermenting xylose under microaerobic conditions.
