Growing pan-European profits

Article Abstract:

Innovative Electronics Components Group (IEC) was set up in Jul 1994 through a 19.5 million pounds sterling deal involving a buy-out and buy-in which was led by CINVen. The company ranks tenth in the European market for the distribution of electronic components. Components come from all over the world to be distributed in Europe. The group acquired ASAP, a French company, with the help of development finance. IEC benefited from a dearth of semi-conductor memory chips in 1995 and increased its turnover by over 30% in that year.

Roscos begin to roll

Article Abstract:

Eversholt Leasing has been involved in a management buy-out which was finalised at the start of Feb 1996. The company has been privatized as part of the break-up and sale of British Rail, and is involved in passenger rolling stock for the railroad system. Leases on rolling stock lasting between four and ten years mean that the company has guaranteed revenues. This gives a secure cash flow, though the company's profit is less certain.

Will the upturn continue?: last year's promising deal results may be bettered in 1995, though prospects for exits through flotation still look subdued. (Management Buy-outs)

Article Abstract:

Management buy-outs and buy-ins achieved their highest total value in 1994 according to the Centre for Management Buy-out Research at the University of Nottingham. Some industry figures believe that 1995 will also be an active year with continued M&A activity. There has already been renewed activity by the banks in the buy-out market with a sharp increase in gearing for the larger buy outs.
