The generic methods can be used for global transcriptional profiling but the universal array method can be utilized for the detection of a foreign transcript in engineered yeast. Microarray technology can be used to study model biological systems, systems biology and for interrogation and diagnostic analysis of unknown, uncharacterized or mixed samples of incomplete genome sequences.

Functional genome annotation through phylogenomic mapping

Article Abstract:

A genome scale approach is introduced to functional protein annotation, phylogenomic mapping that requires only sequence data and can be applied equally well to finished and unfinished genomes. The ability of phylogenomic maps to predict both mutant phenotype and gene function in the delta proteobacterium Myxococcus Xanthus is experimentally confirmed.
