HR systems drive successful postacquisition integration at General Mills

Article Abstract:

General Mills acquired Pillsbury in 2001 and adopted a transition strategy undertaken around the four important HR systems and methodologies namely rewards, performance management, individual development and employee surveys. But two years after the acquisition, the result proved to be highly significant and developed a totally dedicated workforce that generates greater earnings per share that it has crossed the limit of the S&P 500.

The merger of Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Compaq in 2002 produced an innovative organizational model for addressing corporate, social, and environmental responsibility (CSER). The CSER group of HP integrates these disparate functions and relies on influence rather than control to make sustainability a way of life at HP.
