Here come the headsets

Article Abstract:

A number of companies providing Internet telephony or computer-telephone integration services are growing. Internet telephony is the newest innovation in the telecommunications industry which is more sophisticated and slightly expensive than a traditional phone call. The system uses an integrated NetManage or Conference module that connects to the Internet and requires only an additional sound card and headset. Companies providing such services include Israel-based VocalTec, IDT and Delta Three.

Companies that are planning to embark on a merger need to consider whether their respective computer systems are compatible before finalizing a merger deal. The problem encountered by paper titans Domtar and Cascades underscores the need for companies to be prepared in dealing with incompatible technologies. In the case of the newly consolidated Novartis, it took eight computer specialists eight months to integrate the two distribution systems.
