Hormel Foods offers 20 case SPAM display

Hormel Foods Corp is utilizing a display unit made by Smyth Companies-Display Division, to fulfill retailer's requirements for convenient merchandising items for the Spam product line. Designed to hold 206 pounds of product at its base, the 20-Case SPAM Movable Display incorporates two wheels for mobility and creates impulse-purchase stimuli. The display unit is almost intact when shipped, necessitating only the attachment of the header, which carries a special promotional offer for consumers.

SPAMMOBILE for sampling tour

Hormel Foods has rolled out a 25-foot trailer called the SPAMMOBILE that is touring the southeast US and giving away thousands of free SPAMBURGER hamburgers. The vehicle, shaped like a giant can of SPAM, gives consumers the opportunity to savor the five varieties of SPAM. The Spamburgers would be cooked onsite through the vehicle's state-of-the-art kitchen. Nick Meyer, SPAM Product Manager, said the company aims to show how SPAM can fit into their busy and active lifestyles.

Beef demand takes upward swing

Beef demand increased 3.5% in 1999 compared to 1998, with consumer spending totaling $49.22 billion in 1999, a $2.58 billion rise over 1998. One of the significant factors that contributed to the increase in beef demand is attributed to the foodservice sector. For this reason, the National Cattlemen's Beef Assn is intensifying its efforts in both the food service and retail sectors to satisfy the demand for more convenient beef meals.
