Trade show and exhibition graphics: a highly competitive business

Article Abstract:

There are certain tips that commercial photo labs can follow in order to penetrate into the lucrative exhibition graphics market. These tips are excelling in the chosen niche; a competent sales staff; direct marketing to end-user clients; strategic alliances with companies with abilities that photo labs lack; offering one-stop display service to customers. However, Trucolor CEO Bob Goldblatt points out that the market for exhibition displays is contracting since exhibit display companies are directly producing the products by using wide-format inkjet machines.

Quality Lab and Imaging of Houston, TX, offers a range of film processing services that include E-6, C-41 and black-and-white film processing and printing. The company, owned by Andy and Ena Alagappan, has also recently expanded into the one-hour on-site executive portraiture business. Quality Lab, which has evolved into a commercial operation from its Mom-and-Pop store beginnings, has benefited immmensely from the technological advancements in digital imaging.

Photographic image longevity tests open to debate

Article Abstract:

Image stability of photographs over the long term is a function of humidity, temperature, light intensity and light quality. Predictive tests designed to determine photographic image longevity should be as close as possible to actual conditions that exist in real life circumstances. The ability of photographic prints to maintain their quality for long periods of time is a main concern for family pictures, portraits, wedding photos and other prints that are meant for exhibitions.
