How to Conduct Product Research for Script Development

Article Abstract:

Telemarketing scripts have not been given the attention they deserve as an important component in the telemarketing process. The basic product orientation of the message has been overlooked. Product messages include such ideas as new and improved, uniqueness, reminder to use the product and comparisons with other well known products. The product message must be established quickly; in the telemarketing environment, there is little time. Such identification is important in the scripting of the message. In order to establish the right message, some product research might be required. Find out from consumers what their image of the product is, and respond accordingly.

Five minutes should be the maximum length. Four basic question types confront the marketer when designing the script. Script content requires the greatest creative skills. Testing of any script should always be done.
