How to join the European party

Article Abstract:

British investors may wish to invest in stocks from mainland Europe which may appear more attractive following the creation of the European Monetary Union (EMU). Buying European companies' stocks is becoming easier, but there are still barriers. Private investors often face high charges and brokers argue that their costs are higher, which pushes up charges. Investors may also have problems in obtaining data on companies from mainland Europe.

Smooth operators

Article Abstract:

Lower risk investors in the United Kingdom could consider traded endowments which can reduce volatility from equity returns. These are with profit policies that policyholders have decided not to retain until they mature, and they can be purchased as investments. They can be purchased in a number of ways, for example, directly from policyholders, or from market makers, or from collective investment vehicles which invest in these policies.
