Human antibodies from transgenic animals

Article Abstract:

The status of drugs derived from an alternative technology for generating low immunogenicity therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), transgenic mice comprising human immunoglobulin repertoires. The immunogenicity data for human sequence antibodies in the clinic is the main focus, as the primary motivation for developing transgenic mouse platforms was the immunogenicity of rodent antibodies.

From XenoMouse technology to panitumumab, the first fully human antibody product from transgenic mice

Article Abstract:

XenoMouse strains generate numerous fully human antibodies to target in multiple disease indications. The development of panitumumab (Vectibix), a fully human antibody directed against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), for treating people with colorectal cancer represents a successful application of mice engineered with a human immune system.

Generation of cloned transgenic pigs rich in omega-3 fatty acids

Article Abstract:

The generation of cloned pigs that express a humanized Caenorthabditis elegans gene, fat-1, encoding an n-3 fatty acid desaturase is described. The hfat-1 transgenic pigs produce high levels of n-3 fatty acids from n-6 analogs, and their tissues have a significantly reduced ratio of n-6/n-3 fatty acids.
