IBM CEO keeps spotlight on customers

International Business Machines is emphasising the importance it places on pleasing its customers, following disappointment that a survey on customer satisfaction showed its supports services were not highly rated. It plans to spend more time with customers, working with them to establish their needs, acting as technological partners, and it plans to change some of its distribution, channels, relying more on system integrators and value added resellers.

McCaw, AT&T engaged in plans for marketing matrimony

Article Abstract:

The joint marketing venture between McCaw Cellular Communications Inc and AT and T is in its final stages but several issues remain unsettled such as the use of the latter's brand name. The control of the advertising and brand identity aspects of AT and T name is seen as a potential hindrance for the partnership. McCaw Pres-COO James Barksdale and Senior VP Richard Bryan agree that the joint marketing venture will not be seen in the near future.

AT&T, McCaw to integrate channels in booming cellular market

Article Abstract:

American Telephone and Telegraph Co (AT&T) and McCaw Cellular Communications Inc are planning an alliance which will benefit both communications companies. AT&T will be able to handle the cellular communications industry it dropped in 1986 while McCaw has access to AT&T's marketing database and expertise. The agreement requires AT&T to purchase 33% ofnew McCaw Cellular stock and British Telecom shares for $3.8 billion.
