IBM Office System May Outstrip Competition

Article Abstract:

IBM Corporation announces it will introduce a line of office automation software early in 1985. Their Office Family System line provides electronic mail and word processing software for use on all sizes of its computers. This move is likely to heat up competition in this segment of the market which is expected to reach $300 billion in the next ten years. Wang Laboratories, which has used common software on all of its computers for some time, has a package similar to IBM's called Wang Office which it introduced in November 1984.
