IBM leaves ZD Comdex; booth clash turns bitter

Article Abstract:

The continuing debate over the scope of the ZD Comdex/Fall computer trade show has been exacerbated by IBM's departure and Intel's cancellation of its product display for the 1998 event. There have been serious challenges to the relevance of the show with the earlier defections of other major computer vendors such as Compaq Computer Corp and Dell Computer Corp. IBM's move triggered a public dispute with ZD Comdex. The company refutes ZD Comdex Pres and CEO Jason Chudnofsky's allegations that it has decided to leave only after failing to sign for exhibit space.
