Identifying the task variable that influence perceived object assembly complexity

Article Abstract:

A task analysis of a range of self-assembly products is used, to identify seven task variables hypothesized for predicting assembly complexity in the instruction comprehension phase of assembly. The results reveals that the task variables identified are significant step towards identifying the factors that influence assembly complexity, together with providing progress towards a tool for predicting assembly complexity.

Judging the urgency of non-verbal auditory alarms: a case study

Article Abstract:

An investigation was made regarding the conveyed level of urgency of five non-verbal auditory alarms that are used in the Canadian Forces CH-146 Griffon helicopter. The results of this investigation revealed that participants' rating of perceived urgency appear to be based on the acoustic properties of the alarms which are known to affect the listener's perceived level of urgency.
