Improving the sitting posture of CAD/CAM workers by increasing VDU monitor working height

Article Abstract:

Neck tension syndrome in computer-utilizing personnel can be reduced through improved sitting postures. Neck and trapezius muscle exertions are minimized by using a viewing angle of three degrees above the horizontal between the middle of the monitor and eye level. Furthermore, viewing angles of up to 15 degrees above the horizontal are preferred over angles below the azimuth. These values are derived from biomechanical studies of the neck and head.

Comaprison of intradiscal pressures and spinal fixator loads for different body positions and exercises

Article Abstract:

Researchers examine spinal loading by measuring intradiscal pressure in subjects performing different exercises and postures. Slightly lower loads were measured in the sitting than the standing positions, and low loads were found in the lying positions, while running and jumping exercises increased the loads.

Biomechanical and metabolic effects of varying backpack loading on simulated marching

Article Abstract:

The physiological and biomechanical responses to prolonged load carriage by soldiers during military marching were examined. Results showed significant differences in most physiologic responses, suggesting that each 15% body weight load increment led to a proportional metabolic cost increase of around 5-6%.
